Our Story
Eugene W. Christian Sr. founded Excel Construction Corporation in March of 1986. During a developing time in Central Jersey, Mr. Christian and his team were well known for their diligence, creativeness, and craftsmanship. Excel Construction Corp. served as the primary excavation team for the development of Mountain Lakes, Buttermilk Ridge, and Poets Corner. We also assisted in various projects for the American Heart Association of North Brunswick, the Servino Group, J.S. Hovnanian, the Stonegate Development, Creld Company, and the Kaplan Organization. The very first piece of equipment purchased by Mr. Christian and his son, Gene is on display at our current business location in Oxford, North Carolina.
Our family relocated to the Carolina’s in the early 1990’s, continuing our mission in the South. Founding E. Christian & Son of NC, Inc. in 1996, Eugene W. Christian Jr. worked alongside many successful Contractors. His team worked with engineers to develop many local subdivisions, completed various sized drainage and erosion control projects, and cleared more land than imaginable. They provided our services to General Contractors, Homeowners, and Commercial business owners in all of our surrounding counties. Gene had experienced and overcame many economic crisis’s during his years of owning and operating, which helped develop different skills and methods for making most building processes feasible for all of our customers.
After spending most of his life in and out of various pieces of equipment, and dedicating 10 years to being a respected athlete, the youngest member of our team, Eugene W. Christian lll decided to partner with his father in early 2019. Since their partnership we have been dedicated to expanding, while keeping our core values of providing quality service and developing meaningful relationships. We have been at the forefront during the development of technology throughout Construction over the past 4 decades. With 35 years in business and 25 years serving North Carolina, we continue to deliver the highest standard of professionalism to all of our customers.

Consultant supervisor during the Boise Cascade Tupperware Project in Twin Falls, I.D for the blasting of Lava Rock and mass excavation for the Tupperware Plant
Supervised many rehabilitation projects all over New Jersey, including Lake Parsippany, Bradley Beach Main Street, and Liberty State Park.
Supervised the installation of sea walls and the demolition & excavation for the New Port City Shopping Center in Jersey City, N.J.
